BBQ Glazed Grilled Chicken

BBQ glazed grilled chicken is an easy and delicious summer dinner.

We eat grilled chicken at least once a week during the summer. That smoky charcoal adds so much flavor and I love not having to heat up the kitchen. Grilled also cuts down on kitchen clean-up, always a win in my book!

Ingredients

BBQ sauce: This sauce is so easy to make, thanks in part to using store-bought barbecue sauce. We are fond of this sweet and spicy honey chipotle variety. Use your favorite sauce to make the glaze your own.

Sriracha Sauce: We love our spice and Sriracha sauce definitely brings the heat. This can be added to taste or omitted if you prefer.

Honey: Sweet, sticky honey helps the glaze coat the chicken and, of course, adds delicious flavor.

Brown Mustard: Adds a nice tang to contrast the sweet flavors.

Orange Juice: A touch of orange juice thins out the sauce just a bit to make it spreadable. Citrus also adds a nice brightness to the sauce.

Chicken Breast: I use one large boneless, skinless chicken breast for the two of us.

Instructions

This recipe doesn’t involve marinating the chicken. I used to marinate for a couple of hours ahead of grilling. But with the sugar in the BBQ sauce, honey, and orange juice, the chicken tends to burn during the grilling process. A nice char is great, but too often we ended up with the outside of the chicken breast burned before the inner meat was close to cooked through.

Combine the BBQ sauce, Sriracha sauce, honey, mustard, and orange juice in a small bowl.

Grill the chicken until both sides have a nice sear. Move the chicken off the direct flame and brush the chicken on both sides with the prepared sauce. Continue to brush while the chicken cooks through.

BBQ glazed grilled chicken, a potato, and a simple side vegetable is an easy and healthy dinner. Potato salad and coleslaw are also great sides with grilled chicken!
