Butter garlic sautéed shrimp are quick, easy, and delicious. I typically serve them over pasta, but they are equally good on their own as the main course.
Shrimp is an excellent choice for a quick easy dinner. They cook in a matter of minutes and lend themselves to a host of flavorings. You can serve them with pasta, in a stir-fry, or even in an enchilada.
Ingredients
Raw Shrimp: I always keep a bag of frozen, raw shrimp on hand. They are handy not only for easy dinners but also for my lunch salads. Shrimp are not only delicious but very high in protein and low in fat. Allow 8-10 large shrimp per person.
Italian Seasoning: As much as I love fresh herbs, a bottle of dried Italian seasoning works well in this recipe. I do like a little fresh basil at the end if I have it available.
Salt & Black Pepper: Shrimp is very mild, so salt and pepper are needed to bring out the flavor.
Paprika: Adds a little smoky flavor and pleasing color to the dish.
Butter: The garlic and shrimp are sautéed in butter.
Garlic: Garlic and shrimp are a wonderful combination.
Instructions
Start by thawing the shrimp. If I am serving shrimp for dinner, I will pull my frozen shrimp in the morning and stick them in the refrigerator after a quick rinse to remove any ice crystals. If you are in a pinch, you can pull shrimp and place them in warm water to thaw quickly.
Once your shrimp are thawed, it is vital to dry them thoroughly. This way the spices will stick to them, and they will sauté as opposed to boil when placed in the garlic butter.
Add the Italian seasoning, salt, pepper, and paprika to your dry shrimp. Stir to mix and coat all the shrimp in the mixture.
Finely mince or grate your garlic. You could also use a garlic press. Melt the butter in a medium skillet. Add the garlic and sauté for a minute.
Add the shrimp and sauté for about 3 minutes per side. The shrimp will turn opaque when done.
Serve immediately and enjoy!
