Happy Sunday and happy Halloween eve!
Halloween should be the last Saturday of October, don’t you agree? Kids can dress up and trick or treat without concern for school the next day. As for the adults, we can enjoy a pumpkin pie martini without the 8-5 workweek to take into account.
I was hearing this week that Christmas decor has taken over several local retail stores. We all know the Thanksgiving holiday has been overrun by Christmas. But now it can’t wait until Halloween is over. Yikes.
For me, it is now and always pumpkin season. I treated myself to the most luscious-smelling candle ever from Snif. The Pumpkin Smash candle is a limited edition, but I have no doubt they have many amazing choices.
Yesterday was the annual Day of the Dead celebration in our local downtown area. I love the idea of remembering and celebrating lost loved ones.
For late October, the weather was absolutely perfect. We had decided a few weeks ago to check out the celebration, depending on the weather. No doubt the gorgeous fall day contributed to a huge crowd. We watched a mariachi band and several dancers. There were lots of food trucks, most with lines about 20 people deep. The local small businesses in the area were open and we ended up getting our food and drink from them. We also enjoyed a lot of great people-watching! 😉
This photo doesn’t really do the crowd justice. Of course, I couldn’t resist a photo of the big black cat balloon.
What caught my eye this week
Food Network star, fellow Minnesotan, and all-around cutie Molly Yeh. I love her food and awesome personality.
UK Prime Ministers come and go, but chef mouser Larry the cat remains.
Pumpkin flavors aren’t basic. I really wouldn’t care if they were. As I said earlier, it is now and always pumpkin season for me!
Daily rituals. I am a fan of almost all of these. So often I would benefit from concentrating on the task at hand instead of jumping from one task to another. But cold showers? Nope. I am shivering just thinking about it.
Baby bison are the cutest. This little surprise baby is part of a plan to reintroduce bison in the UK.
Bella and Bailey have a birthday tomorrow! My sweet kitties turn 13 years old on Halloween.
