Happy Sunday!

Happy September and the start of football season! The Vikings open their season later today. With a new coach and general manager, I feel like they have a fresh start this year. As always, I am excited and optimistic. I am also looking forward to weekly homemade pizza! This year, I will experiment with substituting some whole wheat flour in my favorite pizza dough. I really like the flavor of whole wheat, and I am hoping to keep the light, chewy texture.

The weather is still a summer/fall combination, and I am a big fan. Warm during the day, followed by cool nights that let me cuddle under my weighted blanket.

Menu planning is a bit of a challenge this time of year. I am hungry for soups and sheet pan dinners. But about the time I put them on the schedule for the following week, the temperatures are in the 80s. But I am not going to complain. All too soon, I will be looking for any excuse to turn on the oven and warm up the house.

A week ago or so ago, we noticed a bunch of caterpillars on the parsley plant on the deck. A quick internet search identified them as parsley caterpillars. The caterpillars have since mostly left the plant, and I am keeping an eye out for swallowtail butterflies. They definitely did a number on the plant, but they are still a few sprigs left to harvest.

What caught my eye this week

We took advantage of the Disney+ day deal of a month for $1.99. We are going to catch up on the new Thor and Dr. Strange movies as well as the series Moon Knight and She-Hulk. I am also excited for Hocus Pocus 2 later this month!

Purple potatoes at the farmer’s market. I bought some green beans recently and the guy working the stand was showing us a bag of purple potatoes. At the time, I was thinking of the full bag of Russet potatoes at home and declined. Now I wish I would have bought them. I like any and all potatoes, plus they are super nutritious.

Why NetFlix chose pizza for this season of Chef’s Table. Because it’s pizza season! At least at our house. 🙂

New COVID boosters with updated formulas to target the variants.

Short-sleepers: The rare 3% of people who can thrive on four to six hours of sleep. I think a lot of us like to think we have this superpower. I seem to average about six hours a night, but it isn’t for lack of trying.

Women should be able to run safely without changing a thing.

A double rainbow to honor the late Queen Elizabeth. Her 70-year reign was impressive, but definitely complicated. She certainly loved her corgis, and who wouldn’t?!

Belle enjoying the late afternoon sun.

Enjoy your weekend.
