Happy Sunday.
Far be it from me to complain about rain during a drought, even on weekends. But if mother nature wanted to provide some much-needed moisture, this past Thursday would have been a perfect day. But instead, it was a gorgeous, sunny day without a cloud in the sky. So naturally, I had my annual eye appointment complete with dilated eyes.
Fortunately, I finally wised up a few years ago and quit scheduling my yearly ophthalmology appointment at 8 o’clock. For the longest time, I would waste an entire day off with my pupils the size of saucers. I always think of the characters in Japanese anime when I look in the mirror at my dilated eyes.
These cute, little pink petunias are growing in a pot at the base of the deck. The funny thing is, I didn’t plant them there! I did recently figure out the mystery of rogue flowers when I looked back and saw them in a planter from last year.
What caught my eye this week
I have been enjoying Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s content on substack for a while. Even if I weren’t familiar with his Hall of Fame basketball career, I would be impressed by him. I smile and nod in agreement as I read everything he shares. There is a payment option, as is typically on substack, but he does share a great deal for free.
Extreme heat does indeed make us crabby. I try not to complain about the heat in the summer, much like I don’t like to moan about rain during a drought.
Yes, Kansas! I applaud not only the results, but the voters being able to decide this issue for themselves. Speaking of elections, the primaries are Tuesday in Minnesota and the mid-term election is approaching quickly.
Where New Yorkers eat in New York. Someday.
The kitchen garbage bowl. I like a container on my kitchen island to catch veggie scraps as I cook dinner.
Bella was probably wishing I would quit it with the photos and let her sleep. 😉
Have a nice weekend.
