Eggnog Latte is the classic taste of Christmas in your coffee mug. Sweet, thick, and creamy, it is everything you want in a luxurious holiday drink.
Earlier this year, I read that Starbucks discontinued their eggnog latte. I am quite sure I never had one, as Peppermint Mocha has always been my absolute ride-or-die drink at Starbucks once December rolls around. I finally got my first of this season this past weekend, and I am here to report it was everything I remember. I don’t treat myself often, but it is worth it every single time.
I am not the only one. While I was there, a couple was ordering iced versions of the beloved Peppermint Mocha. Iced coffee in December in Minnesota??? But then again, I drink hot coffee despite any level of heat and humidity. Who am I to judge? 😉
That said, eggnog is an ingredient just meant to be turned into a delightful holiday coffee treat. On its own, it is basically a super-rich coffee creamer. If you like eggnog and coffee, this is a no-brainer. I really wish I had tried the Starbucks version because I sure like my homemade version.
Ingredients
Coffee: The coffee base of the latte. It should be fresh and pretty strong, so the coffee flavor comes through.
Stevia: I like a sweet latte. You can also use sugar or any sweetener of your choice.
Almond Milk: Any other milk you prefer would also work.
Eggnog: The star of your homemade latte. I have used multiple store-bought eggnogs. This year I used almond milk nog.
Nutmeg: Sprinkled over the top. Smells wonderful and brings out the eggnog flavor.
Instructions
Start by brewing your coffee.
As your coffee brews, combine the stevia, almond milk, and eggnog in the glass measuring cup. Stir to combine.
Microwave the mixture for a minute or two until hot. Watch carefully as the mixture starts to rise in the cup as it heats. You want to avoid an overflow!
Once the mixture is hot, use a frother until it is thick and foamy. If you don’t have a frother, use a whisk or just stir vigorously until the mixture appears frothy.
Once the coffee is brewed, pour it into a large coffee mug. Preferably, a holiday snowman cup. 🙂
Add the latte mixture over the coffee and spoon any remaining froth over the top. Sprinkle with nutmeg.
Enjoy this festive drink! If peppermint mocha is your choice of holiday drink, be sure to check out this post to make your own version at home!
