Oranges

Happy last day of January!! Is it spring yet? 🙂

How cool are all these citrus sales happening in the middle of winter? I can’t think of a better time to stock up on some delicious fruit and get an extra boost of vitamin C.

We could probably all use an extra dose of vitamin D too. The sunshine vitamin is in short supply right now; although I have been seeing the sun a little more lately; at least through a window.

Winter is a great time to catch up on reading, TV, and movies. I was thinking of all the media options we have now compared to my childhood. Growing up we had the 3-4 channels to choose from and everyone watched the same few shows. It was very common to complain of there being nothing to watch on TV.

Now, with all the streaming options my struggle is too much to watch! I just find it amazing how things change.

I have never been one to binge-watch all day as I do like to stay fairly active. But winter is a great time to snuggle under a blanket and watch some good TV.

I love to read at night before bed. I think it helps me wind down and sleep a bit better. This article about books being made into movies starts with my current book, Where the Crawdads Sing. The book is absolutely excellent and so unlike my usual mystery and crime novels.

I am hoping for an early spring this year. Well, I hope that every year! But until then I will be entertained!

What caught my eye this week:

Food from around the world: I love learning about new ways to combine delicious ingredients.

Meal planning and the basics: I started meal planning years ago, and it has made life so much easier. For me, planning is half the battle of getting dinner done. I feel like we eat a better variety, not to mention, healthier foods than if meals were more left to chance.

Movie commentary as podcasts: Intriguing. I could imagine taking a walk and listening to the commentary of a favorite movie.

Music and your mood: Truth!

White House dogs: I heard a cat was coming too. 🙂

Happy Weekend!

  1. If you follow The Reading Room on IG, it is Camilla Parker Bowles and the book she is discussing this month is Where the Crawdads Sing
