Weekend Randoms 6/13/2026

Happy weekend.

Grilling season is a good season. Keep the mess and heat out of the kitchen. The dishes are minimal, and the results are delicious. Recently, I decided to try a peanut-marinated chicken skewer recipe that had been in my recipe manager for a while. I served the chicken with Caribbean rice. So good.

I have a few new grill recipes I want to share. Planning menus and grilling used to be a challenge for me. What if I plan a grill meal and it’s raining? Now, I plan an indoor meal and a grill meal back to back. If the weather doesn’t cooperate, I shift days. And, I guess, hope not to have two rainy days in a row!

I love a great sandwich with lots of ingredients. But a sandwich spilling ingredients on the plate, or worse, your lap, is a drag. A chicken sandwich is often appealing to me, but they are notoriously messy. One bite and everything slides off the chicken.

Wrapping the ingredients in a piece of lettuce is the suggestion. I wonder if restaurants would take this advice to heart? A messy sandwich at home is one thing. But I avoid ordering the scrumptious-sounding, but possibly seriously messy, sandwich when we dine out.

I feel like it’s hard to find a good rom-com. Office Romance was fun without some of the over-the-top corniness. The rumor is that Jennifer Lopez and Brett Goldstein, the co-stars, are dating in real life. Whether for publicity or not, they have good chemistry.

The next few days look like peak summer weather days. Have a great weekend.
