Weekend Randoms 1/5/2025

Happy Sunday.

January is the slowest month of the year, at least for me. Last year, I only had one notable event: a great overdue girlfriend lunch, but still. I discovered this when I completed my year-in-review in my journal. It is a pleasant surprise to look back on the year and see all the fun and accomplishments for most of it.

Except for January. January is about surviving the coldest month of the year and waiting for spring. The Minnesota Vikings’ surprising success gives me a reason to be optimistic about the month. Every year, a team shocks the league. Little did I know, this year, the Vikings are that team.

Tomorrow night, the Vikings play the Detroit Lions for the division title and the number one seed in the playoffs. It’s a big deal as the top team gets a bye in the first week of the playoffs. The players get a rest and get healthy after a long season. The hard part for me is waiting all weekend! 😉

I keep reminding myself that even the most optimistic fans, and I am one of them, would never have expected this level of success. I am going to enjoy the ride.

Gentle January is the way. January is slow, cold, and my least favorite month. It is time to be kind to ourselves.

I try to practice a little yoga every day. Yoga is often a part of my cool-down and stretch after a workout. I also do a few stretchy, relaxing poses as part of my night routine to prepare for bed. These are some great poses to relax and help encourage sleep.

Kittens!

Baby B&B

Fifteen years ago, on New Year’s Eve, baby Bella and Bailey joined our family. In this picture, they were huddled on the stairs leading from the basement. They didn’t know what to make of us, or their new surroundings. But they quickly came around. 🙂

They were so precious then and remain just as sweet and cute to this day.
