Weekend Randoms 8/25/2024

Happy Sunday.

Small tomatoes still seem to be the general rule this year. They taste great and are coming at the perfect rate to keep me in fresh tomatoes for my lunch salads and what I need for meals. Score!

I decided to google my small tomato situation and kept finding drought and excessive heat as the reasons. Neither has been a big issue this summer. So I don’t know.

We plan to go to the State Fair this week if the weather cooperates, and it looks like it should. The crowds have been recording-breaking crazy, likely due to the nice weather.

I was drooling over this list of new foods at the State Fair this year. We have searched for specific vendors in past years, but often we wander and see what tempts us. I saw another article singing the praises of the Buffalo Cheese-Curd & Chicken Taco and the Fried Bee-Nana Pie. Yum.

The latest COVID variant. Minnesota is in the highest activity level according to the map and I sure feel like I have been hearing about a lot of cases. According to news reports on Friday, the new vaccines have been approved and should be ready soon. Last year we got our booster with our yearly flu shot near the end of September. We will probably do the same this year.

I rarely get sick (knock on wood) but if I do, I plan to remember the Medicine Ball. I know several people who swear by it. A customer creation that became so popular it became part of Starbucks’ menu.

How to soften cream cheese quickly. Glad I am not the only one who has resorted to the microwave. It works. 🙂 Softened cream cheese is a must for my favorite frosting. Firm cream cheese leads to lumpy frosting.

A male flamingo pair is rearing a chick after successfully incubating an abandoned egg. So cute!

My birthday sushi dinner from earlier this week. So good!

Have a lovely weekend.
