Weekend Randoms 12/20/2025

Happy weekend.

My holiday baking got done yesterday. I made my yearly batch of sugar cookie cutouts, plus chocolate pecan pie bars. I doubled my small batch recipe and baked it in an 8×8 square pan. It worked perfectly! The cranberry bars are a copycat recipe of the cranberry bliss bars from Starbucks.

As I mentioned here, I used part of the sugar cookie dough to make a few date-filled cookies. I never liked dates as a kid. Or maybe I never tried them? Recently, I bought a bag of Medjool dates. They are so delicious! These sweet, chewy dates worked perfectly. Hubby really liked the cookies. I told him I will probably make a full batch of the date cookies at some point.

I have so many cookie cutters. We have lots from Hubby’s mom, and some of them might be from my mom. I also bought a few.

We started feeding the squirrels this past week. I would say it’s purely to help them survive what is starting as a rough winter. But who am I kidding? I love watching them too.

Christmas movies can kinda, sorta get me to some level of Christmas spirit. I watched a few that were just okay. This one was really good.
