Weekend

I was horrified to read of the assassination of the Minnesota Speaker of the House and the shooting of a second lawmaker along with their spouses. Even with political rhetoric becoming increasingly violent, this was shocking.

Like many others, hubby and I attended the local No Kings protest rally despite the warnings to stay away. It was completely peaceful, and honestly, quite uplifting. I think the organizers were pleased with the turnout. We aren’t protest people, this was our first. I think that says something about the current political climate. It has become increasingly difficult to remain silent.

That afternoon, we went to the local state park. The waterfall was flowing, and the park was vibrant green thanks to all the recent rain. This morning we took an early morning walk at our local neighborhood park. We saw baby bunnies, ducklings, and goslings. I love getting outside and moving in the morning. But the hope of a cute animal sighting was also tempting.

I don’t know if my point is seeing the positive or remembering that there is still good in the world. When I make posts like this about gun violence or my thoughts on abortion rights, I feel like I stumble over my words. Talking food, recipes, and random fun facts is easy. But I think it’s important to talk about the tough stuff too.

Take care and keep talking.
