Weekend Randoms 8/1/2026

Happy weekend.

August! I hate to be that person who complains that time, in particular summer, goes too fast. But I can’t believe August is already here.

I had been thinking, but hated to say it out loud, that the mosquito population seems to be down this year. Sure enough, I read an article this morning that said that is indeed the case. The decrease in mosquitoes is attributed to a dry, warm spring. It’s been wonderful to be able to check and water the garden in the morning without getting attacked!

The Devil Wears Prada 2 arrived on Hulu/Disney+ this past Thursday, and I watched it that day. I had read it wasn’t as good as the original. Honestly, it would have been nearly impossible to beat the original. That said, it was really good. The stellar cast was all back, and I felt like it captured the fun that made the original movie so iconic. I have seen the original more times than I can count, and I will definitely be rewatching the sequel.

On that note, I could finally read this article. It sat in my Read Later file since the movie was in the theaters.

I am not a Boomer, but I am not far away either. Love it or hate it, grocery shopping is a big deal once you become an adult. I was fully expecting a full grocery store redo to be on the list. Because that actually is annoying. I have no doubt it’s on purpose. As you walk around the store trying to find where the hell everything is now, you buy more.

The trans sports ban isn’t and has never been about protecting children.

Why the best ideas happen in the shower. Essentially, doing something that doesn’t require much thought helps your brain process information and generate great ideas.

Have a wonderful weekend.
