Weekend Randoms 3/28/2026

Happy weekend.

Hubby and I just returned from taking a couple of days away. We have enjoyed Hastings in the past and got a great deal on a hotel room.

The weather was perfect on the first day: 70 degrees and sunny. After happy hour, we went for a long walk on a lovely trail along the Mississippi River. The trail was busy with people and dogs, everyone out enjoying the rare warm day this early in the year.

The next day, the weather was cold, windy, and much more March-like. We did take a walk in the early morning. A pair of bald eagles was soaring around and landed on a tree near the river. I tried to get a picture of the pair, but we took one step too close, and they both flew off. We did manage to get a photo of one. It’s nice to see a few more bald eagles; they were so rare for a while.

We always manage to find great food when we travel. The hotel restaurant is so good. We had eaten there for breakfast and dinner a few times before and had been pleased.

I tried a new breakfast, the Harbor scramble, with smoked salmon, spinach, and goat cheese. Hubby commented that it had my name all over it; he’s right. The luscious goat cheese melts into the scramble. It is delicious. I ordered it both mornings.

Back home this weekend. Later today, we are attending our local No Kings Protest. The weather should be nice. I am hoping for huge crowds.

Have a nice weekend.
